  • I've never done martial arts before. What should I expect?

    Expect to be challenged, to work hard, and to have tons of fun. Martial Arts is an incredibly rewarding way of life and we can’t wait to share it with you. Come with an open mind and you’ll leave with an expanded view of what is possible to achieve.

  • I'm not athletic or in shape at all. I'm worried that I can't handle Martial Arts!

    Martial Arts is a rigorous, yet forgiving and understanding form of exercising the body and mind. Whatever your fitness level or physical state may be, expect to work hard but also have a ton of fun. There are no absolutes in both life and in Martial Arts. We’ll help you along your journey no matter where you start.

  • What are classes like?

    Classes range from 45 to 75 minutes long and include:
    Strength and conditioning exercises

    Technique practice

    Situational drilling & sparring

  • How should I prepare for class?

    Beginners can borrow loaner gear, but please come to class with:

    trimmed nails,

    good hygiene,

    and a positive attitude

  • How often do I need to train?

    With anything that you want to get better at, dedicated and intelligent practice is necessary. Martial Arts is no different. We recommend training at least 2-3 times per week to see noticeable improvement rapidly.

  • I'm concerned about my safety. Is this stuff safe?

    Like all physical sports, Martial Arts inherently carry a risk of injury. However, at Atheneum Martial Arts, we prioritize the safety and health of our training partners above all else and therefore create a culture dedicated to safely training these potentially dangerous arts.
